Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE), a member of the Volvo Group (Volvo), is a leading global supplier of off-highway equipment construction machinery. It offers machinery in North America under Volvo and SDLG brand names. Its product lines range from compact to heavy construction and road building equipment and are primarily used in general construction, utility, industrial, civil engineering, highway, infrastructure and aggregate and quarry operations. Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America are Volvo CE’s largest markets.

In 2013, Volvo’s total world market for heavy, compact and road machinery (in units) increased approximately two percent; management indicated that unit sales in North America grew three percent, although our estimates for machines we cover indicate sales up about 5 – 6 percent. Volvo sold a total of 70,800 machines in 2013 compared to 75,500 in 2012 representing a six percent decline. The decline is coming primarily from the company’s Asian market, which includes China.
